Status
The group was formed as a charity and a company limited by guarantee, registered in England [number 6972302]. The latter means that if the group has to close because of insolvency that each member will be asked to contribute £10 toward any outstanding liabilities or costs involved with winding up the company.
HM Revenue and Customs recognise us as a charity for tax purposes.
We set up our Memorandum and Articles of Association on a model recommended for charities but until our income or promises of funding or donations reached the £5000 threshold, we were unable to register with the Charity Commission. We were successfully registered on 18th May 2010 and our Charity Number is 1135976.
